WNEA buys Midwest and Great Plains windpower assets from Boreal

MINNEAPOLIS - (Business Wire) Wind Energy America Inc. (OTCBB: WNEA) announced today (29FEB08) that it has completed an acquisition of significant wind energy assets from Boreal Energy Inc., a Minnesota corporation, in a tax free exchange for WNEA common stock. As a result of the completed transaction, WNEA will exchange 28,500,000 unregistered common shares for these Boreal assets.

Boreal assets include property and development rights in many wind farm projects in the upper Midwest and Great Plains regions, including Iowa, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Montana, Wisconsin, and southern Ontario. As a wind farm developer, Boreal holds significant interests and rights to an extensive pipeline of wind energy projects under design or development of approximately 1,200 megawatts. These Boreal projects are located in some of the most favorable wind regimes in North America for the generation of electricity from wind turbines.

USA Northwest Wind Energy Output surpasses 1,000 MW in February

Wind Energy Reaches Highest Output Ever

By Jamison, Michael, RedOrbit.com

KALISPELL - Not too long ago, a milestone in the Northwest's energy policy slipped by with nary a notice by folks at home flipping the switches. The wind howled, the turbines turned and, for the first time ever, the wind power blowing through the region's electric grid surpassed the 1,000-megawatt mark. That's enough energy to power nearly 700,000 homes.

"When the wind's really kicking, we're getting 1,180 megawatts," said Doug Johnson, "which is pretty darned good for a clean energy alternative."

Of course, when the wind's not blowing, "we get nothing. It's an intermittent resource. We only get it when it blows."

Johnson is a spokesman for the Bonneville Power Administration, the quasi-governmental agency that markets power produced at 31 federal dams in the Columbia River Basin, some 40 percent of all the electricity used in the Pacific Northwest.

Those hydropower plants include headwater reservoirs such as Montana's Hungry Horse and Libby dams, which provide at-cost electricity to 140 utility companies in Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon.

Oregon is where PPM Energy recently fired up its latest wind project, the Klondike III, at about the same time the grid crossed that 1,000-megawatt mark.

Nevada Geothermal Power Announces Results from Flow Test

GeothermEx, Inc. Rates Well 25-14 at 7.5 MW Net Capacity

Nevada Geothermal Power Inc. ("NGP") (TSX VENTURE: NGP)(OTCBB: NGLPF) today announced that long term flow-test results from Well 25-14 indicate that the well is a very prolific producer. Flow testing of 25-14 was done under the supervision of GeothermEx, Inc. ("GeothermEx") an independent consultant based in Richmond California.

Excerpts from GeothermEx's report:

- Well 25-14 produced roughly 770,000 pounds per hour when fully open (equivalent to a volumetric flow rate of 1,750 gallons per minute) at a wellhead pressure of 120 pounds per square inch.

- The well produces primarily from a single zone at 2,280 feet (695 metres). The temperature of the zone is 374 degrees F (190 degrees C).

- Comparison of static and flowing pressure survey in 25-14 indicates a total cumulative pressure drawdown of about 121 psi at 2,280 feet (695 metres) during the production period. This indicates very good productivity.

- The net power potential of 25-14 would be about 7.5 MW. This estimate accounts for parasitic load for the combination of the production pump in the well and the well's proportionate share of a binary plant and injection pumps.
